1st U.S. R/C Flight School Trains 1100th Student!

04/January 2010

On July 6, 2006, Charlie Walkanoff, age 11, of Waukegan, IL successfully completed1st U.S. R/C Flight School’s 5-day Primary flight training course, becoming the School’s 1100th student trained! Here is his Dad's report:

Hi Dave,

Since your course, Charlie has been to the field four times. Typical comments from well established club members include:

"We give flying instruction every Tuesday evening, would Charlie like to come and give landing instruction."

As we were unloading our equipment from the truck, a question from a gentleman who only saw him fly last year. "Is Charlie flying unassisted Yet? After watching him fly, the question was "why is he still flying the NextStar and not an Ultra Stick."

From a long time club member when I inquired about protocol in regard to more than one plane in the air at a time. "Charlie is always in such good control and flies consistent patterns and maneuvers we all are comfortable in the air with him."

Thank you Dave and 1st U.S. R/C Flight School for your ability to convey the knowledge and to instill the confidence in Charlie to enable him to enjoy the wonderful world of RC flying.

Looking forward to seeing you next year.

Just a little more info. Charlie also has a Stearman PT-17 electric park flyer. We had it out the other night and asked the cheif flight instructor to check it out. He took off and everything worked very well so he gave the radio to Charlie and from then on he was taking off and landing it by himself.

Thanks again Dave. We're having a GREAT time!
