Press Releases:

Primary Solo:

When I called AMA to research your school they gave you seven stars out of five! The school met and exceeded all my expectations and my first Solos back home were textbook.

Joseph Balabon. Mays Landing, NJ

Dave has the student focus on making prescribed control inputs and the aircraft follows along - versus reacting to the airplane and always being one step behind it. Dave's friendly approach made the lessons easy to learn and the training flights allowed us to immediately put his techniques to use, get feedback, and continue on. I've now successfully flown 21 flights on my own.

Bill Felton. Apex, NC

(NC) Charles County Windrifters R/C Club Editors note: I also attended this school three years ago. It is all Bill says it is, and more. It makes for a nice vacation as well as expediting a tedious learning process.

The way you have structured your course, from simple to complex, is educationally sound and it works. Your teaching and coaching ability is however, the thing that brings it all together. Your explanations before the flights and during the flights eliminated the usual disorientation and lack of control.

Faye Stilley. Wilton, CT

To put it short, your program works and it gave me the confidence to fly when I got back home. I would readily suggest your course to other people like myself whose schedules do not permit sustained weekend after weekend flying to build proficiency. The 5 days I spent with you represented several summers worth of regular training.

Jeffrey Steinberg. Chessnut Hill, MA

My goal in attending the Flight School was to be able to Take off - fly comfortably and land the airplane in one place. The objective was achieved during the five day course. I would highly recommend the Flight School to anyone who wanted to learn to fly in a very short period of time without crashing a number of planes.

William Reynolds. Alpena, MI

I can honestly say that I have never been more satisfied with any investment of my time, energy and money than I am with the training provided by your school. Read Bob's Full Report

Bob Kohler. Cedarburg, WI

I have never met a more capable instructor in any discipline. Dave knows his stuff backwards and forward. Dave is also a man of infinite patience. Infinite. Read Dave's Full Report

Dave Healy. Medford, OR

The course totally exceeded my expectations, and I had high expectations. I now have the confidence that I am totally in control of my plane. The DAS system just can't be that simple, and yet it is!!! Please feel free to have anyone who wants confirmation of your courses worth to email me. I will tell them that it is the best $ I have ever spent in the hobby. Read Steve's Full Report

Steve Storman. Harrington Park, NJ

Dave Scott is a SUPERB teacher, with "nerves of steel" and a quiet, relaxed manner that leads to early confidence in flying. Prior to each flight Dave would explain exactly what we were going to accomplish and why. After each flight Dave critiqued it (always most politely) at which time he explained what happened and why. The student's only concern is to learn, and have fun while learning.

Tony Fassi. Palm Beach, FL

Your approach of treating both flight preparation and the actual flying as though it were full scale is absolutely on target for maximal learning and fun with minimal headaches. I only wish I'd come to the School BEFORE making all the ridiculous mistakes!

Ken, Nate, and Ben Moore. Las Vegas, NV

Since the class I have found that I have more confidence in my flying abilities. I am more relaxed and enjoy the sport more than ever. I have to admit that my investment in Dave Scott's class was the best thing I have done to improve my ability to fly.

Dean Ehn. Boulder, CO

The club members were amazed that I would even attempt to fly in 15-20 mph winds. As they watched and waited for me to crash, I just kept remembering what you taught, and finished my flight with a pretty good landing. I couldn't be more pleased with what I go out of the school.

Dan Sprung. Bergen, NY

Having been a full-scale instructor for over 25 years I can truthfully say your method of RC instruction is superb and effective. I believe your class should be mandatory for anyone wishing to excel.

Romeo Bachand. Mundelein, IL

I've attended numerous institutions of higher learning and I can say that based on the program you have developed and the way you present it and your concern for the students' success you are the best teacher I have ever had!

Dr. Hubert Aeaton. Wilmington, NC

I've heard club members ask why would anyone pay for RC flight training when he can be taught in his club for free? I have attended several clubs and have not seen anything that resembles the professionalism, amount of thought, enthusiasm, and the personal attention that you bring to training your students.

Joe Thompson. Palm City, FL

I honestly didn’t know how you were going to exceed my expectations in the aerobatic class in comparison to the quantum leap in the basic class over a year ago, but you did. Your business card claims World Leader in R/C Flight Training--I agree and would add Premier R/C Flight School. Read Jim's Full Report

Jim Hahn. Bernumwood, WI

Dave has almost unlimited patience. His manner and calm reactions to any flying situation is one of the keys to the success of the students. It was well worth the investment and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to fly properly.

Brad Moss. Cleveland, OH

I needed concentrated training. So, I decided to attend the 1st US R/C Flight School in Shawano, Wisconsin. Dave has an extraordinary amount of patience and he had the ability to keep calm during all of out student flying sessions. He never appeared ruffled or irritated at our repeated mistakes.

Al Reynolds. Cheyenne, WY

I can't say enough about your class and instruction. It exceeded all my expectations.

Mike Weathers. St. Louis, MO

It's official Dave. It all came together to allow me to Solo. What a rush! I even landed the plane on the runway in front of an audience of 3 other club members. The combination of concentrated training, emphasis on fundamentals, and your infinite patience has enabled me to be successful.

Archie Paez. Jacksonville, FL

The school has been one of the best time investments I've made in years. You're very professional and structured classroom setting complimented the flying time you individually tailored to the student. You have succeeded in establishing the foundation that every pilot needs in order to be successful. Read Mike's Full Report

Mike Anthony. Naperville, IL

I can't thank you enough! We all were highly satisfied with your course and are still amazed at how you can tailor the instruction for each of us separately. I can't imagine that you could have made a more thorough or professional effort. I would highly recommend your course to anyone learning to fly and wanting to be a proficient pilot.

Ernest Waud. Lake Forest, IL

I would once again like to thank you for the instruction. I learned a lot and had a blast. I've got 30 flights in to date with no repairs. Money well spent! I am missing the Wisconsin winds! Flew one day in approx. 20 MPH crosswinds since I've been back. A scant breeze after the course. I will highly recommend your school to any student.

Kevin Klaus. Hardin, IL

Dave Scott, a 1st rate instructor who made all of his commands in a clear level voice which were easy to understand. I have more confidence now and I feel I really got my money's worth.

Bob Harris. Ontario, CAN

I am in total confidence that anyone that goes to your school will receive the professionalism and friendliness of the "DAS" system, helping them to achieve solo status in the shortest possible time with confidence!

William Snow. New England, CT

I got what I came for, confidence, and the correct way to fly. Don't change a thing. I think coming to Shawano and going through the school was one of my best investments in rc flying. A lot of guy's will spend a lot more on equipment, only to trash it, get disgusted, and leave the hobby, because they never had the knowledge you shared with us.

Bob Bortman. Greenfield, WI

As I participated in your program over 5 days, I honestly could not think of a single way to make your program better. You tailored a program to my specific needs, recognized the areas I needed work, helped me to confront my issues, and then directed me on to my next R/C adventure. I greatly exceeded what I thought I could possibly learn to do. Soloing the third day, doing barrel rolls, loops and Immalmanns on the fifth day was awesome! Read Robert's Full Report

Robert Delaurentis. San Diego, CA

Your training program works as advertised and I wouldn't change a thing. (I'm actually quite thrilled about your program and very impressed with the amount of thought and work you have put into it!)

Bob Thomas. Fowlerville, MI

What a great time I had flying with you. It was truly one of those great memorable aviation experiences of my life. I can't get the grin off my face!

Capt. (United Airlines) Elwood Woods. Dundee, IL

Your calm demeanor, tremendous knowledge, and proven system, coupled with your great dedication and personality made flying easy and fun! I can't wait to come and see you next year, my skills have already improved exponentially, thanks to you!!!

Don Fletcher. Louisville, KY

I owe my RC flying skills to you and your progressive and insightful series of classes. I was very disenchanted with my club instructor's techniques and the progress I was making before I signed up for the
primary flight course. I was very impressed with your approach to learning and learning to solo in only 3 days.

Chris Leyden. Fort Wayne, IN

Thanks to your training, I'm enjoying flying instead of trying to keep up with the plane. The really amazing thing was that it seemed so easy. On my return, all of the instructors were amazed at the progress I had made. Even the "General" speaks to me every now and then. Thanks again for making flying a fun hobby.

Sam Stimson. Austin, TX

The bottom line for any service is did you get your moneys worth and was it worth the time? The answer to both is definitely yes. I will recommend the school to new students.

John O'Keefe. Springfield, IL

As more time passes I reflect on the super duper time I had in your class! You are a real pro. The school was the best $---- I have ever spent!

Rachel Hall. Berkeley, CA

I gained the knowledge to know how to correct errors, and yet has also instilled the "fun" into the hobby. Your additional input on equipment, engines, fuel, maintenance, etc. will be very helpful and cleared the air of a lot of misunderstood information. Your school has gotten me off the ground in the right way.

Paul Moore. Plymouth, MN

I was extremely impressed with your approach and methodology to Primary Flight Training. I now realize that with attention to consistent patterns and ground references, there is no need to get into a situation where a crash can occur. Read Jeff's Full Report

One club member stated that I must be rich to be able to go to Dave Scott’s flight school, but as I see it, I’m saving money by going to the flight school.

Ron Francis. Clarksburg, ONT

Two guys in the OFC took me up for my wings test and I passed! I'm on my own, thanks to your splendid instruction. My wife thinks the 1st US RC Flight School was the best investment I ever made.

Doug Crowne. St. Agatha, ONT

I want to tell you that coming to the school was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The way you built the training made it easy. Your true concern and support for how well I did gave me a confidence I still have today.

Edward Smetak. Houston, TX

I just wanted to say thank you for your great instruction. I flew three solo flights one week after your school! I am so excited to finally have independence from the buddy box! Thanks to your instruction I am no longer afraid to fly!

Dale Smith. Ann Arbor, MI

Each time I have flown since the class, I have been able to improve because of the proper basic training. When I make a mistake, they have not been catastrophic thanks to now knowing what I did wrong, correcting properly, and how to perfect my technique. Read Jim's Full Report

Jim Hahn. Birnamwood, WI

I learned more after the first two flights at your school than I had in three years at my club.

Neil Reynolds. Peterboroug, ONT

My flying continues to go very well. My landings are crisp or as some say "greased.' All the result of your training at the Primary school.

Jim Klass. Lewiston, NY

You would not believe how many guys are amazed at how fast I have progressed and are now asking me if I want to fly their airplanes! What a terrific testament to your training!

Bob Kohler. Cedarburg, WI

I had five flights with good landings my first time out after the School. One fellow yesterday wanted to know how long I have been flying. I told him a week and he was kind of shocked at the ease of my flying. I told him I attended your school and he was impressed. Dave, it was automatic for me, very little thinking just action (not reaction). I am so excited to fly, each flight was a little better, smoother and automatic.

Michael Pad. Bloomfield, MI

7/18. I am pleased to announce that after flight school I went to the field and flew four solo flights. The club instructors were amazed as to how I could do such landings. I confessed and let them in on our secret of the approach. The club "diehards" were still not convinced until later that day when we ended up with about 20 mph winds and I took off and landed with no difficulty. They were amazed as this would have been deemed a "no-trainer day". I know it would have taken me years of club instruction to have advanced to where I am.

7/20. Went out again yesterday and had a great day at the field. I now have 2 other novices using the same system and they improved immediately.

Tony Graham. Jasper, AL

Dave believes there are two basic types of flyers. Most club flyers are "Reactors" who watch what the airplane is doing and react to deviations. By definition, they are slightly behind the airplane. For a "Reactor", improvement takes lots of practice and fuel for incremental improvements. I had been flying like this. On the other hand, "Controllers" anticipate the appropriate corrections to prevent the deviation before it occurs. They are thinking ahead of the airplane. An important part of being a "Controller" is identifying which corrections need to be made ahead of time. This is the heart of the DAS (David A. Scott) system in his manuals, and used at the flight school. Read Ken's Full Report

I cannot express how much you've helped me gain confidence. That first day when you had me fly in 20 mph winds, I would not have believed it unless I had tried it myself! Read Michael's Full Report

Michael Anthony. Naperville, IL

I still can't stop telling people what a wonderful learning experience you have put together for the RC student.

Ed Bleske. Pewaukee, WI

The club examiner wanted me to do 3 take-offs and landings to receive my wings.....I did more than 20! Thanks for the great week in Wisconsin and for the skills and confidence to solo!

Ron Capstack. Harrisonburg, VA

It was extremely windy when I was finally able to get our chief flying instructor to the field. However, having high winds all week at your school proved to be advantageous as I achieved a total score of 87 out of a possible 100 and therefore received my wings.

Neil Robertson. Peterborough, ONT

I had absolutely no apprehension at all and flew the plane like you taught me. Like you said, losing an airplane is unacceptable. The check pilot found it difficult to believe that my total experience was one week and that I soloed in three days, but he said "you don't need my help at all."

Bill Voss. Grand Rapids, MI

I flew all day Friday after the course and greased 9 out of 11 landings. Saturday I flew with an old friend who was amazed at my improvement and overall confidence. I showed him a few things that you taught me and he improved immediately.

Jeff Wallach. Dallas, TX

Aerobatics:

I often think about our sessions notwithstanding the dramatic impact on my flying. I now CONTROL what happens by not always reacting. I anticipate what is going to happen and put in the correct inputs for things before they occur or when they occur.

Jim Procrass. Beverly Hills, CA

You certainly were right in that the school met or exceeded every expectation. I notice steady improvements each time I fly and this is something I just wasn't experiencing prior to your courses.

Daniel Hammon. Bountiful, UT

I just got back from my first contest. I flew the Sportsman Routine in 15-25MPH winds. Without practicing since training with you, I placed second and had a blast.

Todd Siegel. Freehold, NJ

I'm now thinking ahead about where I want the plane to be rather than reacting to unintentional consequences. Thanks for helping me to evolve my skills so I may enjoy a hobby that has been my life long pursuit. Read Mike's Full Report

Mike Anthony. Naperville, IL

It was a wonderful week, filled with more accomplishment than I could have imagined. I now have a repertoire to practice and master that will keep my flying days full for many years.

Doug Crowne. St. Agatha, ONT

I can not thank you enough for your ability to take what look like very difficult maneuvers and break them down and stretch them out into easy segments and then bring them back together. I no longer stand back and look in awe at well flown aerobatics but have to ability to understand how maneuvers are performed and I am transferring that knowledge to my own sticks. My life long dream is now coming together!

Ron Francis. Ontario, CAN

You are not only a great teacher, but a very dedicated professional who knows how to inspire your students to "reach for the sky".

Michal McClure. Lake Forest, IL

My brother and I are both very pleased with our progress throughout the week long session. We have, and will continue to recommend your flight school to those looking for this type of concentrated, personal attention in sharpening their skills.

Gary Smith. Springfield, IN

Each time I take one of your courses I think I've learned just about all there is to learn. Then, you show me a whole new level of flying. I continue to be amazed by your expert tutelage.

Ed Smetak. Kingwood,TX

My flying is getting better and better every day. I attribute that directly to the foundation I received from your excellent training.

Ed Petterson. Export, PA

Thanks to your instruction I'm able to anticipate the maneuvers and what corrections to make to do them better. I'm amazed by how quickly I’ve progressed. You have an amazing way of teaching the basics and also stressing the finer points to achieve perfection without making it a grueling task. Read Jim's Full Report

Jim Hahn. Birnamwood, WI

The school has allowed me to become an R/C pilot that can perform a complete routine with confidence and competence. The school has been invaluable.

Melvin Johnston. Manitoba, CAN

You will be pleased to know that back home I have put your manual and school knowledge to work. My rudder control is improving with every flight, and "yes", I'm staying ahead of the airplane. Thanks for all your help, and saving my reputation at the field.

Tony Biach. Silver Cliff, WI

I can honestly say that I have never been more satisfied with any investment of my time, energy and money than I am with the training provided by your school. In my analysis, the return on investment will continue to accrue for as long as I am active in the sport. Read Bob's Full Report

Apparently you have built a business using proper flight instruction methodology-i.e.-a SYLLABUS---something unheard of a local fields. Just as in full size flying - proper instruction (making the airplane do what the PILOT wants it to do as opposed to accepting whatever the plane wants to do and sorta guiding it around) is the only way to learn consistency. I find your program truly worthwhile and would recommend it to aspiring modelers.

Phil Sibille. Nats, Top Gun, & Masters Champion

I have a very positive impression of your school, through my experience judging some of your students in contests. Your student Todd Siegel's performance is well above average for his experience. Much of that is the training he received from you.

Ron Lockhart. AMA Aerobatics Director & 2005 Advanced Nats Champion

It was a great course. I made more progress in the 10 months after attending your sport aerobatics school than I had in the previous 5 years.

Dan Hammon. Bountiful, UT

The school was without doubt the finest training seminar or short course I've ever taken. Those 4 days rejuvenated my interest and desire to improve. You are an incredible teacher, who mixes the right amount of enthusiasm with an enormous knowledge of flight. Read Herb's Full Report

Herb Carpenter. Plattsburgh, NY

Now when flyers hear that I have been to aerobatic flight school they always ask if it helped or if it was worthwhile. I cannot be more positive about my experience to other flyers. There was no other way for me to advance my skills so quickly. I am not sure any amount of time would have helped this much. I think differently about flying. I no longer react to what the aircraft is doing. I anticipate what to do and control the plane. My flying is improving and I am having more fun flying aerobatics than ever. Read Ken's Full Report

Ken Weddell. Fremont, MI

Dave relayed some new ideas about control. By the third day I wasn't even looking at the plane, just where it was heading. I didn't need to know WHAT the plane was doing because I KNEW what I had told it to do. Flying was actually becoming FUN. Read Dave's Full Report

Each time I attend the school I'm even more impressed by how clearly you organize the lessons and how easy you make it to learn. Now, thanks to you, I feel I have the foundation to do just about anything with practice.

Robert Yeager. Casper, WY

I'm now flying in much stronger winds than before the course, in order to practice serious rudder corrections. Right now, I actually look forward to windy days more than quiet ones. Got to love this hobby.

Bela Ballo. Gates Mills, OH

I flew yesterday for the first time since the flight school. I'm certainly "over the hump" and I now feel comfortable flying in any attitude.

Lou Sardella. Sparks, MD

I went up for the first time since taking the class. I am happy to report that I landed the Dirty Birdi for the first time, and I have been trying forever to land this thing. Yesterday, I landed it like it was nobody's business.

Louis Holt. St. Louis, MO

My flying buddies joked, "Why would you pay money for a flight school when you can fly here for free?" However, my first time back at the club field a buddy commented that I was having a good day, and my regular flying buddies wanted to know what happened. I had not been capable of flying like this two weeks earlier. My last flight finished with a knife-edge pass across the field and cheers upon landing. Read Ken's Full Report

Ken Weddell. Freemont, MI

The day I got back from the Basic aerobatic class one of the really good Pattern guys asked, 'WHERE did you learn to fly like that? That is something I almost never see in this Club!'. I told him my heritage with the DAS system, and he just smiled and said......good, we have another Pattern guy in training!
